Kansas City Railroad Pocket WatchHey guys Dale here with a cool review for a nostalgic piece of jewelry that was part of one of the most famous train robberies dating in history that occurred on January 31, 1874 at Gads Hill Missouri, on the St. Louis iron Mountain and Southern Railroad Train that was held up and robbed by the infamous James brothers Frank and Jesse.

The Story:

The James gang wanted to hold up the train just for two reasons, first the famous detective Allan Pinkerton who was scheduled to be on board was hired to try and find and apprehend or kill James. But the James gang had a different idea; they wanted to eliminate the Pinkerton threat by killing him.

The second reason they wanted to rob the train was to steal from the rich passengers that would be onboard with Pinkerton. While Pinkerton wasn’t on board the James gang made off with over $10,000 in gold bars, jewelry, and guns. James ordered the conductor Mr. C. A. Alford; “Give Me Your Money and Your Wallet”! The order was quickly followed with the conductor handing over his wallet and the famous gold pocket watch.

As the James gang stole all the riches, on their way off the train Jesse look back at the conductor and tossed him back his gold pocket watch saying “You’ll Need This”
